Haremi welcomes its new Publishing Assistant Apprentices!

  • Haremi team

We're delighted to have partnered with LDN Apprenticeships to offer a brand-new apprenticeship programme. This marks an exciting step for our team and supporting early career talent within our employee-owned business.

Publishing is changing fast. Digital disruption, changing consumer behaviour, new revenue models, and a crowded global content market mean publishers need people with up-to-date skills. They also need teams that are more inclusive, representative, and agile.

Haremi's new publishing apprenticeship is a practical response to that challenge. It is a 15-month role that combines paid work with structured learning. Our three new apprentices will be working across different functions, gaining hands on experience. They'll support projects, learn core publishing skills, and bring fresh energy and perspectives to our work.

What apprentices gain from the role

Haremi's apprentices get a real job with real outputs, which will offer a clear route into publishing and help them develop an understanding of the breadth of the industry. They will work with a wide range of different Haremi colleagues. The role involves communicating with and supporting authors, project managers, editors, designers and Haremi's clients. This gives our apprentices a practical view of how projects run, how decisions are made, and how we consistently ensure quality is maintained throughout everything we produce. Alongside this hands-on experience, they will work towards a Level 4 Publishing Professional Apprenticeship qualification.

What this brings to Haremi

We're excited about our new apprenticeship roles because they play a part in boosting our long-term capability. The apprenticeship covers the publishing industry, business models, processes, and the rise in digital publishing. It also covers current trends and the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in publishing. Over time, that knowledge helps us stay responsive as customer needs change.

Digital publishing capability is another benefit. Apprentices will learn about common publishing systems and the value of publishing metadata. They will also be able to recognise and use markup languages including HTML, XML and LaTeX, and learn about key standards such as Onix. This supports the mix of print and digital work we deliver, and helps us keep pace as workflows evolve.

Our apprentices were chosen based on their interest in educational publishing, their high standard of written English, and a strong attention to detail. They also demonstrated excellent organisational skills, communication, teamwork, problem solving, adaptability and customer focus. For Haremi, these are the skills that protect quality and keep delivery reliable. For apprentices, they are the skills that open up options in publishing and beyond. The result is a programme that supports our projects now and builds capability for the future.

A very warm welcome to Georgia, Beth and Elizabete, our new apprentices. We're thrilled to have you on board! You can get to know our latest team members on the Our Team page.
