I started my publishing career providing technical support to schools, which gave me valuable insight into what teachers and students think makes good digital learning content. I then spent 15 years designing and producing digital content for publishers, including many innovative and award-winning digital products.

I became Haremi's CEO in 2021 and managed our transition to employee-ownership. I lead an amazing team, whose passion for creating great content and delivering outstanding customer service inspires me every day. I'm here to ensure Haremi remains true to the values that have already resulted in 18 years of success, and deliver sustainable growth for our employee-owners. It's an exciting, demanding and rewarding job!

I really care about the difference between good and great, which is why I'm still very hands-on when it comes to kicking off new projects, refining processes, monitoring quality and generally supporting our teams and customers.

Anita Harper

Strategy Director

Since joining Haremi I have worked across many projects as a Senior Project Manager, and now as Strategy Director I'm helping to lead Haremi into our new chapter as an employee-owned business.

I try to put myself in the place of our customers. Having been an employee of learning companies in the past, I understand their processes, and the challenges they may be facing, so I try to provide workable solutions to achieve success.

James Voûte

I have nearly 20 years' experience in the education and publishing industries. I’ve worked in sales, marketing and editorial leadership roles at McGraw-Hill Education, the Open University Press and LEGO® Education. I’m also a governor at Activate Learning, one of the UK’s largest trusts of schools and colleges.

Haremi's customers work in education, so they’re in the business of helping people develop and grow. I love supporting our customers’ own growth and development by helping them to make a difference to future generations of learners.

Michael Langford

Operations Director

I have worked at Haremi for 10 years with roles in project coordination, management and operations.

I like to think of Haremi as having the heart of a small company and the ambition of a big company.

Fiona Williams

Office & Finance Manager

I'm responsible for operational, finance and HR administration at Haremi. My employment background is in finance and law, so I understand the importance of publishing quality learning materials, having studied law through correspondence courses over five years to qualify as a litigation lawyer. I really enjoy my role at Haremi, as the team has a relaxed but efficient ethos, nurturing employees, and treating both suppliers and customers with equal support and respect.

Alison Sage

I’ve had various roles in educational publishing since 2014 and I'm currently an Editor. My favourite Haremi projects have been those where I've been working with authors who know their stuff but might be less experienced. It’s rewarding to help make an author's vision into a tangible resource that will support people in their learning journey.

I like it when I can contribute to a project that’s unique in some way, so if a task needs creativity or if my background lets me fix tricky issues.

Alpana Jolly

With a diverse background encompassing psychology, graphic design, and management, along with 12 years' of experience in IT services in India, I've embarked on a new chapter by extending my career horizon to the UK. Having primarily collaborated with publishers throughout my career, I am thrilled to join Haremi as a Senior Project Manager. I see immense potential in using my skills to contribute to the organisation's growth trajectory.

Amber Harris

Project Manager

I’ve recently been promoted to the role of Project Coordinator, having originally joined Haremi as an Editorial Assistant. Before that I worked as a bookseller so I’ve seen the final steps in the educational publishing industry: the sale of the books, and I’ve come full circle to work on their production!

I’m working on a project to digitise six series of English language teaching textbooks which has been brilliant! It’s a large-scale project with a big team and I’m really proud of how well we’re working together.

Anurag Venugopalan

I studied Modern and Contemporary Literature at University of Sussex where I understood that I am deeply interested in learning about how these novels, books and educational content come into place in the world of literature. I worked as a staff writer for a newspaper before joining Haremi. I write poems and short stories as an escape. I am currently building up the nerve to write a novel!

Anya Clayton

I have recently graduated from university and Haremi is my first role in the publishing industry. I am enjoying the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of the various steps of digital publishing through a project that involves developing a bank of exam questions.

I am enjoying the breadth of material and subjects I work with as it has been fun to re-learn topics I used to enjoy at school! I am proud to be working on such a useful and important educational tool.

As a Project Coordinator I've worked on some large, complex projects and it's always a brilliant feeling when you can look back knowing that you've helped to create and deliver a large amount of bespoke content.

My role is interesting as you are able to have an overview of all aspects of a project, while also being able to get involved with creating and checking individual pieces of content.

Catherine Ellis

Project Manager

Before starting my job at Haremi, I worked in the educational technology sector, where I managed the creation of content for global curriculums, including virtual reality content. I have also been a teacher of History, Religious Philosophy and Citizenship, teaching students between the ages of 11 and 18.

I enjoy raising money for charity and in September 2023, I ran the Cheltenham Half Marathon and raised money for Sue Ryder. I have two pet rabbits – Jeremy and Bella!

David Norris

Senior Project Manager

I have almost 30 years' experience in educational and children's publishing including roles as Editorial Manager Pearson, Senior Commissioning Editor at A&C Black and Publishing Manager at Macmillan Education. In my current role as Senior Project Manager, it's essential that I understand what's important to a customer about their project. Then the process will start to ensure we exceed their expectations.

The wide variety of clients that work with Haremi and the many different kinds of projects we take on means there's always a new challenge to get your teeth into.

I am a passionate linguist and editor. I have recently completed a master's degree in French and Spanish translation at the University of Bath. Following this, I worked as an editing intern at the International Atomic Energy Agency. I'm really enjoying contributing my French and Spanish expertise to the MFL projects at Haremi.

I am a qualified Early Years Teacher and so it feels really great to be contributing to incredibly useful resources for teachers to use. I like the variety within the role. There are always new skills to acquire and challenges to overcome and as a close-knit team people are always willing to help each other.

I studied English Literature and Creative Writing at university and joined Haremi as an Editorial Assistant shortly after graduating. About a year later, I became an Editor and have really been enjoying developing my editorial skills in the educational publishing sector. Making the best of teaching and learning materials is a great way to contribute to education – I find it really fulfilling!

Gemma Sadowski

Before my career in publishing, I specialised in English language teaching. This allowed me to travel in Europe and Asia, supporting countless non-native speakers achieve their language learning goals. I decided to begin the move into publishing in 2015 after completing my MA in Modern and Contemporary Literature at Birkbeck and getting involved in Birkbeck's Lamp and Owl magazine.

I especially love what a small world publishing is. There are always familiar faces on every project, and I have built a fantastic network of creative and supportive people over the years. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and exploring nature with my wonderful family and pets.

Gwladys Rushworth

I joined Haremi in 2013 and I am a Senior Project Manager and Editorial Delivery Lead. I lead on the learning and development sector of the business. I have worked on the Exam Wizard project for Pearson Edexcel since my first day at Haremi. I am proud of the team who have worked on this with me since the beginning and of the partnership we have developed with our client: one that is based on complete trust and integrity.

I enjoy working with such a great team of colleagues. I also love the variety of the work we do at Haremi, from project managing to recruiting and training new members of staff.

I work as an Editorial Manager at Haremi and love the range of tasks that this entails, from working closely with content, to overseeing and organising the process of a project, adding value through flexibility, positivity and good communication.

There are often opportunities to expand and develop my skill set here and I'm always learning.

Prior to starting at Haremi in early 2023, I worked with children of all ages, from 2-18 years. I have taught them, helped them to develop essential early skills, and hopefully a love of learning. I have a good understanding of the educational system.

I love working on the different educational projects in Haremi. I learn so much week by week and, no matter which team I am working with, I am always made to feel welcome. Everyone I work with is fantastic and we all support each other.

I studied Creative Writing and Publishing at Bath Spa University where I developed an interest in editorial. This is my first job in the publishing industry and it's amazing to work with such a friendly and supportive team. I love the variety of projects I work on for different clients and knowing that what I do improves education for others. Outside of work I love reading and am working on my own fantasy novel.

Hayley Brooks

Having worked in the publishing industry for over 17 years – both in-house and as a freelancer – I've had the pleasure of working on a wide range of print and digital products across different sectors, with a particular focus on ELT content. As an Editorial Manager at Haremi, I love the variety involved – from diving deep into editorial content, to problem solving, to resourcing and building fantastic editorial teams! In my free time, I love spending time with my family and getting out for a run with my dog.

I have a background in both science and art, so I thrive on the variety of work that Haremi has to offer. With a degree in Illustration, I'm always keen to get involved in providing help with any design-related tasks. Haremi is my first role in the publishing industry, and what really stands out here is the welcoming and supportive atmosphere; everyone is always happy to help!

Helen Brock

Product Manager

I’ve spent 14 years working in publishing with experience in educational and English language teaching (ELT). I’m CELTA qualified and have worked mainly in ELT and Education development editor roles before Haremi. As Product Manager, I really like working on a wide variety of projects where I must think on my feet and make decisions quickly. I love having a lot of responsibility and working with so many different authors across my project list. I also particularly enjoy developing new concepts and putting together proposals for clients.

Hilary Haine

I am an experienced editor of science material for schools, covering national and international work. I have also taught science in a variety of secondary schools in the UK, and tutored and mentored many students.

At Haremi I am privileged to be involved with training and supporting the community of editorial assistants and I enjoy working as part of a team on different projects, solving problems that may arise together.

Jenny Halliday

I have worked in the publishing industry for over 18 years: first as an editor at Edward Elgar Publishing and then as a Development Editor at Scholastic working on their primary education books and digital materials. I joined Haremi in 2016 as an Editorial Manager and have worked on lots of different projects in various subjects. I enjoy the balance of using the skills and knowledge I already have, with learning brand new skills required for each new project.

Jo Collier

I joined Haremi after graduating from university and I've worked in many roles from content production, editorial and now project management. The variety at Haremi is great; I enjoy working on lots of different projects and I really do learn something new every day. I’ve worked on many projects for many clients over my 10 years at Haremi so I can bring that experience to new projects that I manage.

I've managed a lot of Maths and Science projects over the last few years, so I’ve also built up good relationships with a lot of freelance subject specialists.

I have years of administrative experience and last year, I graduated from an English with Creative Writing degree at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Outside of working for Haremi, I write articles, poetry and short stories and am a part of writing groups with friends in which I proofread their work. The proofreading doesn’t stop at Haremi for me!

Kate Pedlar

I started my career in academic publishing as a Production Editor and then had a brief spell as an English teacher. I went back into publishing as a Development Editor and then worked freelance for several years. One of things that I enjoy most about working at Haremi is the fantastic teamwork.

I have recently worked on the development of a complete maths course for use in Egypt. This required the team to pull out all the stops to produce huge volumes of complex materials in a short amount of time. After working freelance for several years, working with a great team has been the best thing.

Over the years, I've worked for quite a few publishers and educational companies, including Taylor and Francis, Oxford University Press and Digital Theatre+. At Haremi, I'm an Editorial Manager and enjoy managing a variety of projects, ensuring that clients always have the highest quality content to meet their needs.

Accuracy and quality are at the centre of everything I do. I'm always looking for solutions to problems I encounter in my project work that will in the long run help speed up the process.

I have worked in publishing now for over 10 years and love that I get to develop a wide range of products for many different customers.

After my studies in modern languages, linguistics and history at Southampton University, I taught English to international students for many years, before deciding to explore a career in the publishing sector. I undertook a formal qualification in proofreading to get me started and was thrilled to find a role with Haremi, where I can work with educational materials. I love the positive, collaborative culture at Haremi, which you feel part of even when working remotely.

Mansi Tailor

I was struck by the world of academic publishing ever since I found a bunch of grammatical mistakes in my schoolbooks. So, after finishing my degrees I went on to write for a newspaper and a travel magazine (without the grammatical mistakes).

Besides the written word, the other thing that really excites me is painting and art. I work on curated commissions and have illustrated a children's zine which was really rewarding work. I was working as a writer for an online magazine before joining Haremi and I'm glad to have taken a step in the editorial direction.

I moved from teaching to publishing many years ago, and trained as an editor at Dorling Kindersley where I worked across the multimedia, education and children's trade divisions. I've since held various inhouse and freelance editorial roles at companies such as Reed Elsevier, Pearson, Sherston Software and York Press.

I love the feeling of teamwork at Haremi; everyone is so supportive and willing to help each other whenever needed. I also enjoy working with such a wide variety of clients on hugely different projects, which means I'm constantly learning new things.

Before starting at Haremi I worked as a bookseller where I had the privilege of meeting many interesting authors and running multiple sections of an independent bookshop. I love reading, especially Science Fiction and Fantasy novels. I graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in Mathematics in 2022, I'm so glad that my role at Haremi allows me to continue using my mathematics background whilst developing new skills in publishing. In my free time I enjoy making art, foraging, and playing board games!

I have worked in learning for over 20 years and I have had various editorial roles during this time: at a history publishing company, educational publisher and now Haremi. I am most proud of my work on the re-editions of the UK's best-selling Psychology series. It was immensely rewarding to work on such fantastic content, especially as a Psychology graduate. I only wish I had had similar resources when studying!

I love the variety of projects that I work on and the fact that I learn something new every day.

I studied BA Modern Languages and Linguistics at Newcastle University. I have editing, translation and interpreting experience, and have also been a voluntary English, French and German teacher. Before joining Haremi I was a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school, supporting SEN students across all subjects, as well as running the school's Accelerated Reader Programme and delivering dedicated spelling, punctuation and grammar lessons for KS3 groups.

I am a recent Physics graduate from the University of Warwick, with a particular interest in science communication, and making STEM more accessible and engaging for everyone. This is my first role in the publishing industry, and in a short time, I've gained valuable experience and skills that I look forward to continuing to develop. When I'm not working, I enjoy climbing and playing board games.

Before starting my job at Haremi, I worked as an editor’s assistant for a magazine where I used to develop, research, and write features. I always aim to add value for our clients by providing an excellent customer service alongside consistent and high-quality publishing services.

I believe that all the work that we put into our projects demonstrates the power of teamwork, hard work and efficiency. Also, the fact that we are creating and digitising content that help students learn and develop themselves gives our work such a great purpose.

I have worked in educational publishing since 2009 and my proudest achievement at Haremi is when I managed the production of a substantial blended learning course, which comprised 45 printed student books and 48 e-learning modules for a professional qualification provider. The publication dates were challenging and there were many interdependent components. As a team we worked brilliantly together to deliver a unique and well received suite of highly engaging resources, on time and on budget.

I have a degree in French and German so I love to get involved in any language projects. As well as being an Editorial Manager at Haremi, I’m able to do editorial work in these languages and can provide more tailored briefing to native speakers or other language specialists. Prior to joining Haremi I worked part-time as an English tutor for secondary school pupils and developed a marketing course for a music marketing company, so I had some experience of producing educational content.

I love that we have such a friendly team here and everyone’s so passionate about what they do. As someone who really cares about education, it's great knowing that I'm helping people to learn.

I started working at Haremi as an Editorial Assistant in 2022 after completing a degree in English Literature and Language at the Open University. From there, I picked up a variety of skills on a number of projects, working with clients such as Macmillan, OUP, Pamoja and Pearson and was promoted to Editor in the summer of 2023. Outside work I enjoy spending quality time with my daughter, swimming, and pottering about in the garden.

Prior to working at Haremi, I completed a degree in English and American Literature at the University of Kent (where I had the opportunity to spend a year at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse!), followed by a PCGE at Birmingham City University. I worked as a teacher for a couple of years before changing careers and finding Haremi. Educational publishing seemed like the perfect next step, allowing me to remain in the education sector whilst taking on new challenges.
